Can you believe we’re already closing in on the holiday season? As much as I enjoy the holidays, there’s no denying the stress of the season. Between social obligations, buying unique gifts for everyone on your list, and back to back events, it can feel like you have no time or energy left to figure out what to wear.
Deciding what to wear to a holiday party can be difficult, especially one hosted by your employer. Particularly if there’s any kind of dress code, it can be hard to decide on an outfit. It’s important to strike a balance between style and professionalism.
To make things easier, I’m sharing a round-up of work-appropriate dresses so that you can find the perfect outfit to match the vibe of your upcoming holiday party.
15+ Work Holiday Party Dresses
Blazer Dress
A blazer dress is the perfect office Christmas party dress for when you want to look chic and sophisticated while still standing out for all the right reasons. You can opt for a statement piece like this black blazer sequin dress or go with this velvet blazer dress that was practically made for holiday work parties.
Sweater Dress
A sweater dress is a great option for a work party dress that’s comfortable, stylish, and plenty warm. I love how versatile sweater dresses are. You can wear them with heels or boots. Plus, you can also throw on a leather jacket for added warmth without detracting from your overall look.
A neutral short-sleeve mock neck midi sweater dress or a black sweater dress (I love this belted one!) is a winter wardrobe staple that can easily be dressed up for an office holiday party. This one is also a nice color green that’s a bit different for the holiday season.
One-Shoulder Maxi Dress
If you’re looking for a formal Christmas dress, consider an elegant maxi dress. One-shoulder maxi dresses are chic and flattering and provide enough coverage for more conservative office environments.
To match the holiday vibe, style a green or red maxi dress with gold or champagne colored heels and accessories. A gorgeous green one-shoulder maxi dress or fitted one-shoulder gown are great options for an elegant holiday party outfit.
Wrap Dress
If you’ve been blessed with big boobs like I have, you can appreciate a good wrap dress. This style allows you to choose just how much skin you want to show, which makes them great for a work event.
A mini wrap dress is a great option if you want to wear a pair of knee-high or over-the-knee boots. If you would prefer to wear heels this mauve colored dress would look perfect with a gold pair. Or, for a fun pop of color, you can go with this bright red dress (which gives off major holiday vibes.)
Velvet Dress
Velvet is the perfect material for a sleek holiday cocktail dress. As long as you can find the right fit, a velvet dress would be absolutely stunning and very on-trend to wear to a business holiday party.
For a mini dress that you can wear with boots or heels, consider this velvet long-sleeved dress. Or if your office likes to go all-out and celebrate the holidays with a lavish event, opt for this black v-neck rectangle gown in a gorgeous velvet material.
Slip Dress
A slip dress is another versatile option that would work well beyond the holiday party season. The key to pulling off a slip dress at a work event, especially one in a more conservative environment, is to style it with a sweater. For example, pair this chic navy blue slip dress with this tan turtleneck sweater.
Long-Sleeve Maxi Dress
Whether your office environment calls for a more streamlined outfit or you simply believe that when it comes to showing skin, less is more, a long-sleeve maxi dress is a must-have for stylish party outfits.
You can’t go wrong with a classic off-shoulder bodycon dress. You can easily jazz it up with gold accessories or colorful heels. Or you can start with a pop of color and opt for this red dress which shows just the right amount of leg.
Metallic Cocktail Dress
How about adding a little sparkle to your work event? Metallic dresses are perfect for the holiday season because they’re fun, flattering, and make a statement. Plus, wearing a metallic dress is a great way to mix up your look if you tend to stick to the same wardrobe pieces.
If you want to wear a metallic cocktail dress to your work holiday party, consider this shimmery v-neck dress or this gold one-shoulder mini dress.
Little Black Dress
I know one thing for sure: You can never go wrong with a little black dress. For an elegant work party outfit, consider this drop-shoulder side drape gown. Or if you’re looking for something more casual, this long-sleeve satin dress is super cute.
Little Red Dress
There’s no better time to wear red than during the holidays. Rather than a classic LBD, consider slipping on a little red dress. These fun, flattering dresses instantly boost your confidence. Try on this mini red dress or this flowy red dress and get ready for a great night with your coworkers.
