Finding comfortable shoes to wear is a struggle regardless of the style or the occasion. Shoe sizes can vary slightly from brand to brand (and even within the same brand!) Not to mention that it’s totally a guessing game when it comes to ordering shoes online: Will they fit? Will they be comfortable? Will they be too wide?
However, while it can be tricky to find any comfy shoes, there’s one particular style that is consistently a challenge — heels.
There’s nothing more frustrating than spending a pretty penny on the high heels you’ve been eyeing only to wear them and realize that they kill your feet. Even worse? When you attend a special occasion, like a wedding or party, and your heels start giving you blisters.
Through a lot of trial and error, I’ve nailed down a solid list of trusted brands that make the most comfortable heels for women. I also asked the gals in my Facebook group to share their favorite heels so I could put together this comprehensive list.
Below, you’ll find my go-to comfortable heels for every type of style — ranging from the most comfortable pumps to the most comfortable mules. If you try any of these out or if you have any additional recommendations, please let me know in the comment section at the end of this post!
Most Comfortable Heels for Women
Best Overall: Loeffler Randall Penny Pleated Bow Sandals
Let me introduce you to my favorite heels ever….
These are so incredibly comfortable and I find myself wearing them more often than any other pair of heels. They’re dressy enough for special events but look equally as cute with a pair of jeans and a bodysuit for a night out. I also love that they’re not a million inches high yet they give you a little boost in height.
They’re definitely an investment but I swear that you’ll wear them so much you’ll get more than your moneys worth! I’ve recommended them so many times that they’ve become a #SilbSquad favorite. I have them in the shorter heel height as well!
Best for Work: Margaux The Heel
Wearing heels to work is required for many, but that doesn’t mean you have to leave your 9 to 5 in pain. The #SilbSquad raved about these heels and confirmed that they are ideal for standing and walking in. They’re made with genuine leather and are known for their supportive fit that molds to your foot.
More to love: These have a cushioned insole that’s made with plush foam padding and they come in a variety of classic colors. If you’re still not convinced, maybe the 500+ nearly perfect reviews will persuade you to give these a try…
Best from Amazon: Schutz PVC Dress Sandals
I received dozens upon dozens of messages from people raving about these heels, so I bought them and can attest: they’re amazing and make your legs look a mile long. I’m obsessed.
They’re my go-to heels for going out to dinner or for grabbing drinks with friends. I often wear them multiple nights in a row because they’re so easy to walk in. I feel like they’re the perfect height too — not 6 inches tall and hard to walk in yet high enough to make me feel a bit *fancier*.
Oh, and good news! If you have wide feet, my followers have recommended this version with a thicker block heel (which are even easier to walk in.)
Another perk to these shoes is that you can order them on Amazon. If you need a last-minute pair of heels for an event or night out, these are your best bet — and they’ll arrive quickly!
Best Strappy Heel: Sam Edelman Kia Sandal
Sam Edelman was the one brand that was repeatedly recommended in my Facebook group.
“Sam Edelman heels are always the most reliably comfortable heels for me! And the shoes themselves last a long time — I have pairs from almost 6 years ago that I’ve worn for a lot of big events and they still look like new,” one #SilbSquad member said.
This specific style is one of the brands bestsellers. I love the thick heel for occasions that require a lot of walking (or if you’re going to a venue with grass!) I also think that there’s just something about an open toe heel that screams spring/summer. Another perk is that these babies keep your foot in place without a clunky and thick strap — the dainty straps do the trick while looking cute!
This pair of heels also comes in light brown and black.
Best Splurge: Sarah Flint Perfect Pump 85
Out of any shoe on this list, these came the most highly recommended. People swear that there are no heels more comfortable than this pair.
The pointed toe design makes them ideal for both professional and “fun” outings. They also have extra footbed padding and added arch support to ensure the ball of your foot doesn’t get sore throughout the day. Oh, and they’re designed with a steel rod heel to ensure durability and security (talk about innovative!)
I’ll let these reviews speak for themselves:
” I didn’t think I would ever be able to wear heels again with my back and hip concerns. I am so thrilled to be able to wear a heel all day. They are perfect, just like the name says!”
“Super comfortable and stylish and I will get a lot of use out of these for parties and special events.”
“I have bought and worn these for years. They are excellent and easy to walk in despite the thin heel. They also hold up incredibly well.”
Best Suede: M.Gemi The Esatto 90mm
These classic black pumps were noted to be “perfect for all day wear” by someone in my Facebook group. They’re handmade in Italy and have a padded leather sole, which makes them feel nothing short of luxurious.
If you read through the reviews, one common theme you’ll see is that many buyers own multiple pairs (they come in a wide range of colors.) Reviewers also mention that they are high quality and last a long time.
Best Stilettos: Stuart Weitzman Nudistcurve Ankle Strap Sandal
I know, I know, stilettos aren’t exactly known for their comfort, but so many women prefer wearing this style (and deserve to find a pair that don’t kill their feet!) These were another rec from my Facebook group and were noted to be a solid option for long-term wear.
They have adjustable straps and are made with shiny, patent leather. They also have such a classic look that you’re sure to reach for time and time again.
Keep in mind that these are known to take a bit to break in, so definitely wear them a few times before a big event!
Best Block Heel: Marc Fisher Block Heel Pumps
One of my Facebook group members shared that she has four pairs of these heels. They have nearly 800 4.5-star reviews which seems like a major win in my book!
Sometimes pointed heels can have really narrow toe boxes, which squishes your toes and makes them nearly impossible to walk in. While this pair is pointed, many reviewers noted that they don’t cramp your toes or squeeze them together uncomfortably.
Pair them with your favorite pair of jeans or a dress for anything from work meetings to happy hour with friends.
Best Nude Heels: Everlane The Day Heel
If you need a chic shoe option that will last you a long time, these everyday nude heels would be a good go-to. They come in the prettiest colors — including bone and blush pink — and would look so adorable with a pair of work trousers or even wide leg jeans.
They are noted to be on the more narrow side, so if you have a slender foot, these are for you!
Best Affordable Heels: Journee Collection Alisia Sandal
If you’re in search of the perfect summer sandal, look no further. These heels go with everything — jeans and a cute top, a dress, or a jumpsuit. I’m really digging this white style but they also come in black, taupe, light blue, and light pink.
As far as the fit goes, the square toe design gives you plenty of room to get comfortable (no cramming your toes!) and the low heel means they’re easy to walk in. Overall, these are an affordable option at just under $50.
Best Slingbacks: Cole Haan Slingback Pump
Slingbacks are a good go-to for work days, events, or big meetings. Cole Haan was a frequently suggested brand for comfortable heels and this specific pair of heels has great reviews.
People like that the heel height is in between “high” and a kitten heel. They’re made with shock absorption, arch support, and plenty of cushioning — all which will keep you cozy on even your longest days of standing.
There you have it! As recommended by my followers and myself, these are the most comfortable heels for women. Whether you need a new pair of shoes for a special event or a good go-to for dinner and happy hour, these will certainly check all of your boxes.
With so many great heel options out there, it makes no sense to be walking around in pain — not to mention collecting blisters along the way. As these shoes prove it, you don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort.
