I’m guilty of filtering through the same few pairs of shoes rather than switching them up frequently. I tend to rotate through my tried-and-true white sneakers, a comfy pair of heels, and chunky loafers.
However, in an effort to spruce up my everyday wardrobe, I went on a hunt for some white boot outfit ideas. You might think white boots are a random item to add to your closet but they are so versatile and offer such a unique look to your personal style, whether you’re dressing for the warmer months or for winter weather.
Figuring out how to wear white boots seems like it should be straightforward, but because you don’t see that many people wearing them, it can leave you feeling a bit…stumped.
Don’t let this stop you from styling your own pair of white boots! They’re a wardrobe staple that offer a great alternative to black and brown boots. Plus, they can add a pop of bright color to an otherwise dull outfit.
To help you figure out how to style white boots, I’m sharing a roundup of ways you can wear them for different occasions and seasons. I’m also including some of my favorite white boots in case you need to grab a pair.
White Boots Outfits
First things first, figuring out the type of white boots you want to add to your closet is essential. Do you want to rock a cowboy boot look or are white ankle boots more your thing?
White boots come in a lot of different styles, and the type you end up with will impact the outfit options you have, so choose wisely.
Also, don’t be afraid to go with boots that are more of a cream color. If classic white feels too bold for you, beige and light tan options offer a similar vibe (and they’re easier to keep clean!)
How to Style White Boots
White Boots + Sweater Dress
When dressing for transitional weather, I think there’s no better base layer than a sweater dress. They’re cozy, cute, and look good with a variety of shoes. Style one with knee high boots, like these from Stuart Weitzman to complete your look. Accessories can also add another layer to your outfit—try a wide brimmed hat, some gold jewelry, and a cute handbag.
White Boots + Matching Set
This was my go-to look when visiting Paris, but it would look adorable to wear for a variety of outings. I love a good matching skirt and blazer set, but I also know that they can be hard to find. If you’re not having luck with finding a cute option, this mini blazer dress would offer a similar look.
White Boots + Cardigan + Silk Skirt
An understated silk slip skirt and a button-up cardigan make for the perfect match. Add some white boots (ankle boots or tall!) and the result is girly and upscale. This would be ideal for a date night or for a more formal occasion.
White Boots + Blazer + Denim Shorts
Hoping to channel your inner cowgirl? Reach for a pair of white leather western boots and style them with some denim shorts, a basic white t-shirt, and a blazer. The result is business on top and fun on the bottom.
Going with a linen blend blazer can give this outfit a more laid back feel. You also could try a short pair of white ankle cowboy-style boots, like these.

White Boots + Shirt Dress + Sweater
If you want to go with a preppy, cool-girl look, try some heeled white boots, like these, with a crisp shirt dress and striped cardigan. This look would be ideal for fall and spring (aka moody) weather, but could also work year-round depending on where you live.
White Boots + Trench Coat
Another piece I love for transitional weather is a trench coat. They’re super versatile and look chic with just about everything. I’d style one with straight leg or skinny jeans and an ankle bootie. Try to go with a trench coat that has some white detailing on it so you can effortlessly pull the two pieces together.
White Boots + White Button Up + Skirt
It doesn’t really get more classic than a basic white button-up shirt, and when paired with white boots, you’re in for a feminine and ultra-chic look. I personally would wear this outfit with a short skirt (as shown in the photo above) but a midi skirt would also work.
Tip: Going with a pair of boots with pointed toes can make your outfit look more elevated (which is ideal for more formal occasions or special events.)
White Boots + Denim Jacket
This looks like the coziest outfit to slip into on those days when you really don’t want to even get dressed. Start with a white t-shirt, then layer it with an oversized denim jacket (I’m eyeing this one.) For bottoms, I’d probably do a little denim on denim action and go with jean shorts.
Add some tall white boots, sunglasses, and some dainty jewelry and you’ll be ready for the day ahead.

White Boots + Straight Leg Jeans + Coat
For an easy everyday look, style your white boots with your favorite pair of jeans, a white shirt or sweater, and a simple coat. I love that this outfit could be worn during the day while running errands or going to appointments before transitioning for wear to happy hour or dinner.
White Boots + Slip Dress
For a more polished look, throw on a silk slip dress, some white boots, and a cardigan. This outfit is quick to put together but somehow looks like it took a lot of effort (which is always a win.) Also, if you want a more flirty vibe, opt for a slip dress with a slit in it.
White Boots + All Black
Combining white boots with an otherwise all black outfit is a great way to make a statement. The contrast ensures that your boots will be the star of the show, and another perk is that you likely can pull this look together with pieces you already have in your closet.
Anything goes but I’d probably style this look with a black mini skirt, a t-shirt, and a leather jacket.
White Boots + Cream Colors
Sticking to all neutrals, like white and beige tones, can give your outfit a fresh and sophisticated feel. This combo is so pretty during the fall and spring months (you could even go with a winter white vibe!)
Carry the color scheme through to your accessories by styling your look with a beige hat.
White Boots + Black Jeans
Just like white boots are a closet staple, so are black jeans. The great thing about black denim is that you can combine it with so many different looks and it always creates such a different feel. Plus, the contrast between black and white can make your outfit look more interesting and well thought out.
This outfit would also look cute with a trench coat!
White Boots + Sundress
When figuring out how to style white boots for warmer weather, an obvious go to is to pair them with a sundress. This look is so cozy and I like that it jus takes two pieces to pull it together (ideal for busy days or to wear while you’re traveling.)
I’d style a dress like this with ankle boots but you could opt for tall boots as well. If you need more ideas on how to wear ankle boots, check out this post.
